Purpose of the Job
To lead the creation and delivery of high-impact graphic design solutions (80%) that support brand visibility, product communication, and promotional efforts across the Lubricants and Commercial business. This role also provides trade marketing support (20%) by assisting with campaign execution, point-of-sale activation, and customer-facing materials. Working closely with both internal teams and external partners, the specialist ensures brand consistency and marketing effectiveness across all channels.

QUALIFICATION
MINIMUM
- NQF Level 6 (Diploma in Graphic Design or similar)
- 7+ years of experience in marketing and design
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a trade marketing environment
- Strong understanding of layout, typography, graphic design, print, motion graphics, branding, UX design and effective story telling.
ADVANTAGEOUS

- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously

- Travel 20% (regionally & nationally)
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
BRANDING COMPLIANCE
1. Ensure all marketing and promotional collateral adhere to Engen’s brand guidelines by collaborating with the appointed marketing agency and internal stakeholders.
2. Work closely with the CMO team to ensure consistency in design and alignment with corporate identity (CI) standards across all visual touchpoints.
3. Maintain brand integrity by applying correct design standards to all internal and external materials.
PROMOTIONS & CAMPAIGN DESIGN
1. Lead the visual development of promotional campaigns and creative projects — from concept through to execution — ensuring the final output reflects the strategic brief and brand identity.
2. Design and deliver campaign materials aligned to the marketing calendar, including point-of-sale (POS), digital assets, print collateral, and customer-facing visuals.
3. Provide ongoing design support to the broader Lubricants and Commercial teams, adapting assets as needed for different markets, customers, and formats.
4. Ensure creative execution supports engagement, consistency, and messaging effectiveness across all platforms.
TRADE MARKETING SUPPORT
1. Support the development of trade marketing materials, such as sales tools, retailer POS, promotional kits, and channel-specific content.
2. Collaborate with sales and product teams to understand trade-specific needs and adapt creative outputs accordingly.
3. Coordinate with external suppliers and internal procurement to manage the timely production and delivery of marketing materials.
4. Contribute to the planning and execution of trade activations and promotions, ensuring visual consistency and high-quality design standards are met.
5. Assist in gathering feedback and metrics on trade campaigns to support continuous improvement
6. Assist with instore activations during peak periods and target sellout promotions
PROCUREMENT & ADMINISTRATION
1. Liaise with suppliers and service providers to support the production of marketing and promotional materials in line with trade and brand initiatives.
2. Manage procurement-related administration, including gathering quotations, raising and submitting purchase orders (POs), and monitoring delivery timelines.
3. Partner with the Procurement team to ensure cost-effective sourcing of high-quality marketing materials and services.
4. Maintain full SAP accountability, including accurate PO creation and submission for all marketing spend.
CREATIVE PROJECT MANAGEMENT & QUALITY CONTROL
1. Oversee the full lifecycle of creative projects — from brainstorming and ideation through to final delivery — ensuring timelines, quality, and brand alignment are met.
2. Apply appropriate graphic design techniques and creative thinking to deliver innovative yet brand-consistent designs.
3. Ensure all digital and print outputs meet technical and aesthetic standards, adhering to both industry best practices and internal guidelines.
4. Maintain a central archive of design assets, ensuring consistency, efficiency, and ease of access for recurring use.
