Purpose of the Job
To operate assigned equipment, take accountability for safe operations of storage facility and optimise operation to meet the product transfer schedule and ensure compliance to relevant HSE regulations and procedures.
What You'll Have Done Before
Baseline:
- NQF Level 6 (Diploma in Chemical Engineering or equivalent)
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Acts
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems
- 5 years experience in Petro-Chemical Operations with Oil & Gas Environment
Advantageous:
- NQF7 (Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent)
- Experience in Petro-chemical product and storage
What You'll Be Doing
Facility Operations
- Ensure compliance to operating discipline principles, procedures and practices to ensure safe and efficient operation of assigned facility areas.
- Ensure monitoring of process conditions, equipment and control systems and be able to operate and field checks process equipment
- Perform tasks assigned to operations as per electronic master task list (POINT eTASK) and electronic compliance task (POINT eGTASK). E.g. Field checks, equipment preparation (LOTO), samples, etc.
- Ensures operational activities and process performance are aligned with facility and business goals
- Resolve process related deviations and problems through troubleshooting and make use of structured round to comply with all Safety Interlock Process Systems (SIPS) procedures
- Conduct process monitoring, meet operational targets, troubleshoot and take corrective action by reporting potential problems to relevant teams
Facility Optimisation & Monitoring
- Manage work procedures to ensure always up to date
- Optimise terminal utilization for “on-time-in-full” (OTIF) product to customer delivery
- Perform and complete day-to-day operational tasks safely as per established operating disciplines (e.g. operating procedure, guideline, checklist, etc) and execute product delivery as per plan
Immediate Response Handling
- Develop personnel in responding to immediate response situations through simulation of immediate response drills to prepare actual immediate response situation. i.e. (shift table talk drills)
- Determine when emergency response assistance is required from the site and/or local emergency services
- Take accountability for the resolution of an immediate response situation and ensure communication for issues to be escalated
- Lead the facility during an immediate response situation and ensure that work processes are followed during the situation and obtain additional resources if required
- Implement action plans and ensure consideration of HSE and Emergency Response Team (ERT) guidelines and policies
- Utilise procedures and knowledge to develop immediate response action plans and initiate actions to return to normal state
