Manufacturing Manager

Location:  Durban LOBP

Job Purpose

strategies to drive down conversion cost, ensure safe environment and reduce waste and manage the two Lubricants manufacturing plants, staff, processes and areas of responsibilities such as raw material receipting, ship to shore transfers, blending, filling operations and asset integrity to ensure that the business plan volumes are produced in a safe and efficient manner and that applicable standards, processes and procedures are complied with by staff and service providers to produce quality products on time in full.

What you have done before

• 8 years’ experience in Manufacturing & Operations with demonstrated responsibility for plant operations, production planning, safety, quality, cost control and continuous improvement initiatives
• 5 years management experience
• SAP PM Systems, OSHACT Training
• Operation Technology Systems (DCS/ABB/Rockwell)
• QA Systems

Advantageous

• Experience in managing team with a large unionised workforce

What you'll be doing

MANUFACTURING OPERATIONS

• Ensure Lubricants manufacturing and plant optimization and monitor all operational activities ensuring strict adherence to work instructions and procedures
• Operational Excellence to improve manufacturing Operational Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
• Introduce initiatives to increase productivity through continuous improvement techniques
• Monitor base oil imports, stock receipting, inventory control and avoidance of losses

QUALITY CONTROL

• Ensure that the manufacturing facility meets specific accreditation requirements (VDA, IATF, ISO, etc).
• Obtain Right First Time Target's on all production processes
• Investigate and conduct RCA related to quality incidents

HSEQ COMPLIANCE

• Establish annual HSE Plans and KPI's for the two manufacturing Plants
• Maintain strict adherence and compliance with HSEQ and security standards
• Take ownership of HSEMS Management Reviews and Audit programmes
• Ensure adherence to Engen/Vivo rules, policies and procedures on all staff and contractors working on site

ASSET INTEGRITY

• Establish Asset Integrity Plans and KPI's in line with VE Standards
• Maintain safety critical equipment in accordance to standards
• Manage the manufacturing plant capex program to ensure maintenance and upgrades are done on schedule

INVENTORY MANAGEMENT

• Manage inventory and ensure stock counts and variances accountability with full investigation and corrective action for losses
• Ensure continuous improvement initiatives to reduce stock variances
• Limit raw material dead stock, damages and contaminations

HR PROCESSES COMPLIANCE

• Drive the implementation of People Development strategies and programs which are aligned to Downstream and Vivo Energy Talent Strategy as well as collaborating with line management through various meeting platforms to ensure staff leadership and potential are fully realized and optimized.
• Drive the implementation of leadership development strategies and programs which are aligned to Vivo Energy Leadership Development Framework and enforcement of systematic and continuous application of Talent Review, effective succession planning and Leadership Conditioning program that will support Vivo Energy aspirations to be a global champion.
• Lead and drive the implementation of employee performance management and ensure fair and effective performance management of employees
