Job Purpose

 

To develop and driver the successful implementation of the Convenience & Partnerships plans and strategies by analysing global and Local retail trends and formulating successful responses to ensure the achievement of the Company’s Non-Fuel Strategy financial and profit targets.

What you’ll have done before:

Baseline:
•    NQF Level 7 (Degree in Business/ Commercial or related)
•    15 years’ experience in multi-store FMCG Retail Sales, Marketing and Operations
•    Extensive experience in managing and optimizing Supply Chain models in a nation-wide FMCG operation.
•    6 years’ experience in managing managers or exerting influence on Senior Management and Board.
•    Commercial and Business Acumen: In-depth P&L management and ability to apply commercial judgement while considering the end-to-end business.
•    Strategic and insights driven leadership coupled with convenience experience: Convenience knowledge and experience informed by emerging consumer trends, enabling Engen to create value and lead the industry with non-fuel initiatives.
•    Collaborative leadership: Partner and collaborate with key stakeholders (Internal and external), to deliver on Engen “Foodvenience” ambition.
•    Strategy execution: Transition from strategy to execution with ease while instilling a culture of performance excellence.  
•    Strong drive, delivery, and determination: A track record of delivering consistent and sustainable strong business performance.

•    Strategic Partnerships: Develop and implement a dynamic strategy to enhance relationships with top-tier and high value partners, identifying new opportunities and creating compelling value propositions to drive significant growth.
•    Team Leadership: Build and manage a high-performance team of Managers and the broader Convenience Team, fostering collaboration, mentoring, and guiding them to excel in partnership growth, negotiation, and relationship management.
•    Stakeholder Management: Represent Convenience at various consultative structures including internal senior management forums, building, and maintaining strategic relationships with key stakeholders in business forums (internal/ external) to create mutually beneficial growth opportunities.
•    Data-Driven Optimization: Use data insights to continuously refine partnership programs, extract category insights, and identify opportunities for improvement, while driving business success.
•    Operational Excellence: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders and Teams to optimize SKU range, pricing, and promotions creating superior customer experience.
•    Innovation & Market Insight: Stay ahead of industry trends, identifying emerging technologies and opportunities to elevate “Foodvenience” offerings, and drive strategic innovation and collaboration.
•    Driving Growth in Saturated Markets: Creating strategies to stand out and capture new segments.
•    Adapting to Market Disruption: Responding to shifts in consumer behavior and competition.

 

What you’ll be doing:

 

Define the convenience expansion strategy and drive execution thereof, collaborating with cross functional teams (Sales/ Finance/ Assets/ Other Business Stakeholders) to build the convenience capability needed to enable Engen to improve the value of the “Foodvenience” Business.
